ONE of Sunbury’s biggest community events will close O’Shannassy St this Sunday as residents celebrate local businesses.
Sunbury StreetLife Festival has become one of the most vibrant days on the town calendar with car traffic giving way to pedestrians.
Founder Sharyn Snook said more than 140 businesses would take part in this year’s event which will see O’Shannassy St closed to beyond Brook St for the first time.
Ms Snook said the festival helped show locals the full range of products stocked in Sunbury by shops and home-based businesses.
“One of the most popular initiatives is a showbag which is $15, but which contains samples, vouchers and freebies worth way more than $100,” she said.
A stage will feature sets from Brendan Bruns, Kellie Sutton, Stephen Kennedy and Recall Duo, while a beer garden will be set up nearby.
Children’s activities include a jumping castle, animal farm, pony rides and face painting.
African drummers will also perform.
The festival is on from 10am-3.30pm.
