VTCA: The best players from all six divisions
From big name guns to rising stars, the VTCA season has been full of plenty of top performers across all six divisions. Here are the best players so far for 2022-23.

It has been a stunning start to the Victorian Turf Cricket Association season.
We’re now officially at the halfway mark and there’s plenty of excitement still to come.
Here are the top performers of the season so far.
Salman Afridi, Moonee Valley
Despite playing just five games so far, Afridi is already Division 4’s leading run scorer with two half-centuries and 121 not out effort against Andrews. He’s also proven his worth with the ball.
Geeth Alwis, St Albans
Sits second in the Senior Division run scoring charts with 286 runs at an average of 40.9. He’s also taken eight wickets.
Nalin Amarathunga, Sunshine United
The middle order batsman has been as consistent as they come for the Tigers this season with three half-centuries to take him to 271 runs at 45.2 He also chipped in with eight wickets.
Zac Bateman, Moonee Ponds
Has enjoyed a terrific season as an all-rounder having scored 247 runs at 41.2 while taking 12 wickets at just 14.9.
Matt Costello, St Francis de Sales
Continues to lead the attack for last season’s Division 1 runner-up having taken 13 scalps this campaign.
Clarke Doughney, West Newport
Doughney has taken multiple wickets in every game with the exception of one, highlighting his standing as Division 2’s leading wicket taker.
Nilan Fernando, Grand United
Fernando has scored 382 Division 3 runs this season, 110 clear of the next best. He has three half-centuries but is yet to reach triple figures.
Satheesh Fernandu, East Coburg
A dominant all-rounder who is punishing opposition teams with the bat and ball. Has a century and half-century to his name along with 19 wickets, the equal-most of any player in Division 5.
Matthew Gaskett, Keilor
The young quick is putting together a fine season for Keilor with 18 wickets, the second most of any player in the Senior Division. Has also hit valuable late order runs when needed.
Andrew Hendy, Williamstown Imperials
One of the best all-rounders in Division 3 this season, Hendry has scored 270 runs and taken eight wickets.
Sakun Hettiyahandi, Gellibrand
Has consistently been in the runs for Gellibrand with 286 at 47.7 to start the season while also taking seven wickets.
Pishan Hewage, PEGS
Runs haven’t been hard to come by for the PEGS star who has already recorded one ton and two half-centuries. He’s also been more than handy with the ball taking seven wickets.
Tarique Jeffrey, East Keilor
Has taken a wicket in each of his side’s game to lead Division 3 with 19 for the season. Also handy with the bat having scored 207 runs.
Thiwanka Kekulawala, Melton South
Already has two centuries to his name for the season, earning a reputation as one of Division 5’s most damaging top order batsman. Can also impact the game with the ball having taken 11 wickets.
Jordon Kelly, Airport West St Christophers
Has been a picture of consistency with the bat with four half-centuries to date.
Trent Lawford, Yarraville Club
Putting together a terrific season with 296 runs from seven innings to lead all comers in Senior Division. The former Big Bash League cult hero has scored one massive century and a half-century.
Kaushal Lokuarachchi, Sunshine
Was putting up crazy numbers in the early rounds of the season but has slowed down a little since. At the halfway mark he has 289 runs including four half-centuries and a competition-high 19 wickets in Division 1 at 10.95.
Jackson Martin, Yarraville Club
The teenage leg spinning sensation has the third most wickets in Senior Division this season on the back of two five-fors. He has an incredible average of just 9.24.
Dishnaka Manoj, Altona Roosters
Has been a consistent threat with the ball taking a wicket in every game except one.
James Muirhead, Newport-Digman
Better known to cricket fans for his exploits with the ball, the former Australian international leads all Division 2 run scorers with 340. Surprisingly, he hasn’t had a bowl this season.
Isuru Okandage, St Andrews Pascoe Vale
After a slow start in the opening two rounds, Okandage has found his best form in the last six weeks going onto score three half-centuries.
James Park-Johnson, Royal Park Brunswick
Has been outstanding with bat and ball this season. He’s scored two half-centuries and taking 14 wickets.
Harsh Parmar, Sunshine Heights
Enjoying a fine season with the ball for Heights with 15 wickets an 17.5. More than capable with the bat when required with the bat also.
Nathan Patrick, Altona North
It has been a near perfect return to Altona North for Patrick who has the second most wickets in Division 1 with 14.
Ishan Peris, Sydenham-Hillside
The only fault on Peris’ season so far is that he hasn’t been able to convert one of his five half-centuries into triple figures. He has 399 runs at 49.88 at the halfway point.
Max Rouvray, Point Cook
The young gun is putting together a fine season which has been highlighted by 17 wickets for the Warriors. He has also proven a tremendous ability to score quickly with the bat.
Mathew Sanders, Burnside Springs
Sanders is the leading run scorer in Division 5 with 317 runs including a century in the last game before Christmas. He also has eight wickets to his name.
Luke Smith, Keilor Park
Enjoying a fine season with the bat, scoring the second most runs in Division 2. His high score of 92 came against West Newport in Round 5.
Daniel Stavris, Maribyrnong Park St Mary’s
Enjoying a standout captain as captain having already taken 22 wickets at just 7.7.
Aziz Ullah, Haig Fawkner
The leading wicket taker in the Senior Division with 20 for the season, highlighted by two five-fors.
Matthew Williams, Sunshine YCW
Has struck with the ball in all but one game this season with 6-10 against Barkly Street Uniting his best effort.
