The Stars were dismissed for 130 after being 4-107 and seemingly destined for their third straight win to start the VTCA campaign.

A double blow from Welegedara and Jack Tate (3-20), removing Pat Willach (14) Lorenzo Ingram (37) turned the fixture on its head.

With a head of steam up, Welegedara had Jeremy Peacock (4) caught and finished with four of the last six wickets in his best haul since crossing to Strathmore from Westmeadows last summer.

The left-arm paceman has more wickets than any other bowler in the VTCA top grade this season, capturing 12 scalps in three games at an eye-popping average of 7.9.

He has taken 41 wickets since joining Strathmore and looms as a key figure as the club chases a finals berth under new coach Omar Phillips.

Strathmore was 2-90 in its second innings when stumps were called, with Chris Williams making 44.

Both sides are 2-1 after four rounds.

The Mores travel to unbeaten Spotswood in Round 5, while Doutta Stars take on St Albans.

Seddon (8-348) defeated St Albans (242) by 106 runs, Spotswood (5-174) accounted for Sunshine United (136) and Yarraville Club (5-364 and 0-40) claimed the first win of its flag defence over Keilor (227).

Spotswood is one game clear at the top of the ladder, with Doutta Stars, Seddon and Strathmore rounding out the top four.

Yarraville Club, Sunshine United and St Albans sit a further game back, with Keilor still chasing its first win.
