ABERFELDIE Park conjured an incredible second-innings victory on Saturday after its VTCA fixture against Footscray ANA finished in a tie.
There was about 40 overs left in the Round 4 match when No. 11 Ron Patton (10) was run out attempting the single which would have earned the Bears first-innings points.

Aberfeldie Park was dismissed for 196 after a last-wicket partnership of 19 between Patton and Matt Schroth (15 not out) pulled them level with Footscray ANA’s total of 196.
Despite time being against them, a “frustrated” Bears captain Adam White opted to push for a second-innings result.
“Possibly an angry captain decided we better go and bowl,” White said.
“We weren’t overly happy with how we bowled in the first innings and went about making amends.
“We bowled well, had a bit of luck and turned the game right on its head.”
Isuru Yaddehige capitalised on the decision, carving through Footscray ANA’s batting line-up with 6-25.
The visitors were routed in 21.2 overs at Aberfeldie Park, giving the Bears enough time to complete a remarkable snatch-and-grab.
“I have never played in a tie that results in an outright victory afterwards,” White said.
“It would have to be one of the strangest games of cricket I have played.”
Instead of settling for three points, Aberfeldie Park pocketed seven to move top of the Division 5 ladder after four rounds.
White was unbeaten on 25 and opener Adrian Betts 17 not out when the Bears reached the target after 12.2 overs.
“There was some excited people on the ground, I think the Footscray guys were pretty excited getting out of it with a tie,” he said.
“We were pretty disappointed. We took tea at that point. It all happened from there.”
White lauded the performance of paceman Bryan Brown, who took match figures of 7-75.
“Brown and Izzy who bowled fantastically. Really good bowling partnership,” he said.
