The 24-year-old has played 36 first-class matches for an average of 27.8 and will also offer the Roos a spin-bowling option.
“He’s obviously going to bat in the top four, for sure, and be able to be an option with his off-spin,” Greenvale director of cricket Peter Di Venuto said.
“He’s just a good cricketer. He’s forced his way back into the Tasmanian JLT team now, he’s made shield hundreds, he’s just a young player on the rise.
“I think it is fantastic to have young people who are hungry to be the best they can.
“What he brings to the group will be his experiences and his attitude.”
While Webster’s availability will ultimately be determined by the Renegades, Di Venuto said Greenvale was confident he would feature regularly in the Twenty20 competition.
“Given most of their games are on Fridays and Saturdays and the fixtures are on Tuesdays, there’s every chance if the franchises are being sensible, for players to have additional hits in the format and retain momentum,” he said.
The Roos have also added Western Australian quick Simon Branston to their Superslam squad.
The fast-medium bowler took 21 wickets in the WA first grade competition last summer and has 11 T20 scalps from seven games during the past two seasons.
“He’s played first-grade cricket over there for the last 8-10 years,” Di Venuto said.
“He has a curating role and was uncertain if he could commit to Premier Cricket but was excited by the opportunity to be involved with playing in the Superslam.
“We’re looking forward to him joining the group.”
The Roos are poised to announce further additions to their side on Thursday.
Greenvale Kangaroos have been grouped against Melbourne, St Kilda, Prahran, Essendon, Geelong, Footscray, Melbourne University and Carlton in the Renegades conference.
