James Seymour announced himself on the national stage with dual half-centuries for Victoria in the Futures League on Wednesday.
Thrust to the top of the order by the Vics, Seymour plundered 81 not out from 62 balls against Tasmania at Lilac Hill Oval and backed up that effort with 73 not out from 56 deliveries against South Australia.

Seymour cleared the rope five times in his knock against SA, powering Victoria to a nine-wicket victory after Andrew Fekete (3-13) and Sam Grimwade (3-25) combined to restrict South Australia to 109.
Coach @MitchJohnstone2 flagged @EssendonCC James Seymour as a BBL talent earlier this summer. First game at top of the order for Victoria in Futures today and he smacked 81 off 62 before taking 1-13. He's currently 42no in game two for the day too!

Tipped as a future Big Bash League talent by Essendon coach Mitch Johnstone earlier this summer, Seymour has compiled 171 runs at 85.5 in the Futures League Twenty20 rounds.
The powerful left-hander debuted at No. 6 on Tuesday, making 17 from 21 balls before he was dismissed late in the Victorian innings.
Dismissed cheaply in his second match, Seymour capitalised on his elevation to the top of the order with two brutal knocks on Wednesday.
He hit six boundaries and two sixes against a Tasmanian team which included former Hobart Hurricanes all-rounder Hamish Kingston and recent BBL debutant Jack Freeman.
The South Australian side Victorian faced featured Adelaide Strikers squad member Michael Cormack and promising quick David Grant.
Selection long overdue. Justifies it with stunning batting display. @EssendonCC @JamesSeymour35 also has capacity to adjust to the next level. @BBL selectors asleep at the wheel. Talented will flourish with opportunity. Leadership and maturity under @MitchJohnstone2 coaching. https://t.co/ZKPbVzNhXC

Damon Egan (25 from 32) and Jake Reed (2-15) were other strong performers against SA, while Ed Newman (41 from 36), Sam Elliott (3-15) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (3-13) were standouts against Tasmania.
Victoria continues its Futures League campaign on Thursday against Western Australia.
