A South Morang man has been slapped with weapons and drug trafficking charges after a police sting allegedly uncovered an armoury of illegal weaponry at his home.
Quang Ho, 39, fronted the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on January 22, facing allegations of weapons trafficking and drug possession.
The court heard a police investigation in May 2024 uncovered a stockpile of weaponry, fireworks and drugs at his northeastern property.
Police allege the search uncovered $5930 in cash alongside $400 in counterfeit Australian currency, multiple bags of crystallised substance and other substances, a shotgun hidden inside a PVC pipe, two extendible batons, assorted ammunition, one gel blaster, a butterfly knife, a handgun, fireworks, cannabis, a bag of powdered substance believed to be ketamine, green vegetable matter and two imitation firearms.
The court heard cops also found other items, including scales, multiple unused zip-lock bags and more, which police say are linked to drug trafficking.
Mr Ho was arrested on May 2 and later gave a no comment interview.
In court on Wednesday, Mr Ho’s lawyer Charles Nikakis said there were still issues being sorted through by defence and the police.
The case was adjourned for a contest mention hearing.
Mr Ho will return to the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 12.
