Second Chance Animal Rescue is looking to art to raise funds for their shelter, as regular donation slow down due to coronavirus.
The shelter has launched a quirky fundraising effort, Amazing Pet Portraits of Your Pet.
In exchange for a $15 donation, pet owners can send in a photo of their beloved furry friend and a team member from the rescue will create a funky portrait of the animal.
The only catch is, the volunteers are a lot better at saving animals than drawing them.
Founder and chief executive Marisa Debattista said it’s random who out of the employees and volunteers does which portrait.
“Some of the portraits are terribly drawn and some you’d hang in a poolroom,” Ms Debattista said.
“It’s a good fun, stress relief for the staff and volunteers.”
She said the fundraising effort was much needed as the non profit organisations funds were dwindling in the wake of coronavirus.

“The coronavirus is dramatically affecting us, we’re really feeling the pinch but with community support we’re trying to survive,” Ms Debattista said.
The fun and wacky fundraiser raised $410 in just a few days.
The rescue has had to drastically minimise shelter operations but the community animal hospital is still open.
SCAR aims to run the pet portrait donation every month.
