FURRY friends in need of a home will have a new shelter next month.
Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR) is preparing for the launch of its new Campbellfield headquarters, which will house up to 10 dogs and 30 cats.
Founder Marisa Debat-tista said it had been a long time coming.

“It’s been a very long process waiting on council permits … but it’s great to finally be at that finishing point,” she said.
The pro-life shelter has relied heavily on foster care networks — which they will continue to work with — and people’s private homes, but Ms Debattista said the growth in demand had led to strong need for a new base.
“We’ll be able to hopefully adopt out a lot more animals,” she said.
“There’ll be a lot of going out into the community and talking about responsible pet ownership in the community.
“People will be able to come in and look at multiple animals in the one go.”
There are currently about 400 cats and dogs in SCAR’s care, with more than 7000 animals adopted out since the organisation started.
“Unfortunately, I wish we didn’t have to be here, but there is a need,” Ms Debattista said.
The opening is on April 19 from 10am-3pm at 1/30-34 Adrian Rd, Campbellfield.
