Detectives have arrested a Roxburgh Park teenager accused of a 10-day burglary spree targeting tobacco stores across Melbourne’s north and east.

A Roxburgh Park teen has been hit with 37 charges after being accused of a 10-day burglary spree targeting tobacco stores.

The 19-year-old man was arrested when Hume crime investigation unit detectives raided a house in St Clair Blvd, Roxburgh Park on January 23.

Police spokeswoman Nikki Ladgrove said the search warrants related to nine alleged burglaries and one alleged attempted burglary at tobacco stores and shopping centres between January 11 and 20.

Stores at Roxburgh Park, Craigieburn, Broadmeadows and Highlands shopping centres were allegedly targeted during the spree, as well as plazas in Ferntree Gully and Northcote and shops in Keilor East, Oak Park and Dallas.

Ms Ladgrove said police located a large amount of cash, cigarettes and high-end clothing suspected of being proceeds to crime at the property.

“A 19-year-old Roxburgh Park man has been charged with 37 offences including burglary, criminal damage, theft of a motor vehicle, theft, possess proceeds of crime and make false report to police,” she said.

The teen has been remanded to reappear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on April 17 this year.

A 17-year-old boy was also arrested and charged with handling stolen goods, possessing proceeds of crime and possessing a prohibited weapon.

He was bailed to face a children’s court at a later date.
