SUNBURY TO REMAIN WITH HUME COUNCIL
The new council area would encompass Sunbury, Wildwood and Bulla but Diggers Rest would remain with Melton City Council.
“Only my team have a plan to ease the population squeeze so local people can get back in control of their suburbs,” Mr Guy said.
“A vote for Cassandra Marr (Liberal candidate for Sunbury) is a vote for Sunbury residents getting back in control of their community.”
A new Sunbury Council was gazetted by the Baillieu Government in 2014, but it was overturned by Labor the following year on the advice of independent auditors.
Hume Council has previously argued against the split, saying it could cause infrastructure delays, rate rises and service reductions.
More to come.
