MACEDON Ranges Health will open a new mental health and wellbeing hub at its centre in Lyell St, Gisborne.

The new hub is expected to open in October and will include four consulting rooms and a meeting space to expand the counselling, psychology, social work and family violence programs offered at MRH.

Workshops, classes and community programs on mental health will also be held at the centre.

The Gisborne & District branch of Bendigo Bank donated $40,000 towards the new hub and its chairman Graham Stewart said the investment reflected the importance of the project to the community.

The bank has long supported MRH, providing a new Toyota commuter bus in 2015 to transport clients and residents.

Macedon Ranges Health CEO Don Tidbury said the group was grateful for the bank in helping it “to support the vulnerable and the aged in our community”.

Works will start on the $80,000 project in August, with a community event to launch the hub in November.
