The streets around Footscray Market have been paved in gold for Maribyrnong Council.
The Leader can reveal the top 10 hot spots where inspectors have slugged overstaying motorists the most, netting $8.77 million in fines for the council in 2018-19.
Almost $30,000 has come from these 10 streets.
The top spot to find a white ticket flapping in the wind was Hopkins St in Footscray.
The council raked in more than $6000 from drivers overstaying their welcome in that street.
Byron St, Footscray came in second with $3762 in fines, and Paisley St was third with $3114.
Acting planning services director Katy McMahon said the council was committed to improving safety on our roads and access to parking for all the community.

“Parking fines can be avoided by understanding and following basic parking rules,” Ms McMahon said.
Last month, the council announced its plans to reintroduce parking meters in Footscray.
The meters were meant to be turned on by June 24, but a 200-signature petition from the Asian Business Association put plans on hold.
The council says the introduction of paid parking will help free up congested streets, after an investigation in January revealed parking spaces were at 85 per cent capacity.
