A savage panel beater bashed and abused a man while his wife waited in the car after the victim complained about a repair job.
Saad Haddara, 30, was convicted and fined in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to recklessly cause injury.
The court heard the man and his wife returned to the Haddara’s Maribyrnong smash repair business to discuss vehicle repair “issues” on May 11 last year.
Haddara, who had a verbal stoush with the man, also accused the then 25-year-old victim of causing damage to a loan replacement vehicle.
A co-accused, who the court heard also worked at the business, punched the victim in the back of the head multiple times.
The victim, who fell to the ground, covered his head with his hands to protect himself, the court was told.
Haddara kicked the victim in the ribs, stomach and back while the co-accused laid in a flurry of punches.
Haddara and the co-accused also abused their victim, calling him a “piece of shit”, a “motherf**cker” and a “f**cking dog”.
The victim attempted to crawl out of the smash repair office to “try and escape” but he was dragged back and thrown onto the ground.
The thugs continued their brutal attack, punching and kicking the victim at least “another 30 times”.
Haddara and his crony ceased the frenzied assault after they spotted blood gushing from their victim’s mouth.
The victim’s wife phoned 000 the same time as the co-accused who claimed he was assaulted, the court was told.
The victim, who sustained multiple injuries, attended Sunshine police station but left to seek medical attention after he became dizzy.
Haddara, of Altona Meadows, became and “aggressive and combative” when he and the co-accused were intercepted and arrested by police on August 9 last year.
Steve Parker, for Haddara, told the court his client grew up in a large family but was raised by his uncle and older siblings after his parents died.
The court heard Haddara opened his own panel beating business in 2019.
Haddara and his family also recently recovered from Covid-19, the court heard.
Magistrate Jelena Popovic convicted and fined Haddara $2000.
