IT COSTS as much as a room on Airbnb, but this red-carpet suite is for fancy felines only, with one Melbourne cat lover shelling out $5600 to pamper her pussy cat.
Spotswood cattery Cat napping may have created Melbourne’s most luxurious accommodation for cats — at $80 a night. And pet owners can’t get enough of it for their purr-recious pets.
Business owner Ebony Centazzo has created the luxury penthouse-style suite, which offers a 24sq m room complete with single bed, teepee, beds, scratching posts and heating and cooling for a single cat or family of cats.
The enormous room, called The Residence, has already proven popular with clients eager to pamper their pets despite the $80 (plus $8 for each additional cats) per night price tag.
One cat lover booked the room for her six cats and had already re-booked for next year.
Another spent a whopping $5600 to book the room for 70-days for her 16-year-old cat over Christmas.
The room is fully booked for Easter and all of May.
Ms Centazzo said the room had come about through conversations with clients,
“I didn’t have the space at our previous location but we managed to do it here and it’s been a real hit,” the self-confessed “crazy cat lady” said.
She said the cats enjoyed lording it over others staying at the facility.
“They enjoy peering at the others through the glass wall and the other cats when they’re allowed out to roam try and figure out ways in,” she said.
She said the most popular spots for the pets were the bed and the deluxe scratching posts.
While the cats have their own room, they get regular human visitors, plenty of attention and of course room service.
