A Macedon Ranges quiet achiever who has spent decades volunteering in the Kyneton community says he is “a bit embarrassed” after receiving a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) honour.
Eric Scoble was named in the Queen’s Birthday honours list for services to the community.
He said he was “very humbled” to receive the award: “I almost feel a bit embarrassed actually.”
“Everything I’ve done for Kyneton, I’ve done through my heart. I don’t do it for recognition.”
Through more than 40 years of volunteering, Mr Scoble has been involved in Kyneton’s little athletics and the men’s shed, as well as its junior soccer, Lions club, trotting, cycling and junior football clubs, among other things.
Mr Scoble has also been a member of the famous Kyneton Daffodil and Arts Festival for more than four decades. Since 2013, he has served as president.

“The Daffodil and Arts Festival is really one of my babies,” he said.
“Each year we fundraise and sell 50-60,000 daffodil bulbs. The people of Kyneton get behind everything that happens. There’s never any negativity.”
