Hamza El-Leissy set to return to Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court

A Craigieburn man who is facing charges for his alleged involvement in a Thomastown shooting was allegedly clocked doing a staggering 229km/h on a major road.
Hamza El-Leissy, 22, returned to Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, April 4 for a mention.
The Craigieburn resident is facing charges of driving in a danger manner on January 24 and recklessly engaging in conduct which placed people in dangerous of serious injury, committing an indictable offence while on bail and contravening a bail condition.
It is alleged that on January 24, Mr El-Leissy drove at 229km/h along Sydney Rd in Campbellfield.
Mr El-Leissy is also facing charges of allegedly possessing a firearm despite being a prohibited person and possessing cartridge ammunition while not having a licence.
The court heard that at least four charges are contested at this stage with the matter set to move to a contest mention.
No bail application was made for Mr El-Leissy and he was remanded to return to court via video link.
Mr El-Leissy will return to Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court on June 2.
