Fun for the whole family at Winter Lights fest in Broadmeadows

There’s an after dark festival coming to Melbourne’s north that will offer a fun way to warm up a chilly winter’s night, with live music, light projections and more to enjoy.

As temperatures drop across Melbourne, there are still plenty of exciting events to enjoy, with a celebration in the northern suburbs set to feature wondrous sights and big names in entertainment coming soon.

Winter Lights festival is back on for a second year, the after-dark free event run by the City of Hume to mark the winter season, with astounding sound and light shows and live acts.

Based out of Broadmeadows Town Hall, the festival will be highlighted by projections on buildings around the precinct and an ice-skating rink for some classic winter fun.

Headlining the event are big-time acts DJ Havana Brown and The Potbelleez.

There will also be exciting roving performers, lots of tasty food, workshops and more – including mulled wine from local winery Marnong Estate.

Kicking off at 4pm, the event will offer something for the whole family to enjoy, with heaps of fun activities including African drumming workshops, glow in the dark face painting, a giant snow globe and snow making workshops.

Another highlight of the event will be an interactive play-centred art exhibition for both little and big kids by Melbourne artist Beci Orpin.

Work from local artists will also be on show across the festival, with colourful sights to enjoy.

The big finale of the festival will be a fireworks show, wrapping up the event with a bang.

The City of Hume Winter Lights festival is on June 17 from 4 to 10pm.
