Fidget spinner trick propels Axle to worldwide YouTube fame

TALENTED pooch Axle has lived up to his name by balancing three fidget spinners at a time — and the party trick could be a launching pad to bigger things for the Sunbury staffy. WATCH

A SUNBURY staffy called Axle is embodying his name with a party trick where he balances three fidget spinner tops on his nose and two paws.

The talented pooch is captured in an internet video in a trancelike state as he balances the three spinning tops, which are themselves a worldwide fad.

Owner Belinda Shipp said Axle’s performance had chalked up more than 14 million views so far.

In a little more than a weekend after Ms Shipp posted the video of her beloved dog, a star was born.

Two sites “acquired” the rights to the initial video.

“I put it up around 9.30pm and by 2am I was getting emails about it from video sharing sites,” she said.

“I thought it sounded like a bit of fun and suddenly the views were in the millions.

“By mistake I gave away the rights for the video but it’s okay though — I’ve filmed him again with the fidget spinning, this time with safety glasses.”

Ms Shipp admits to being entirely besotted by the six-year-old after her children pestered her for a dog.

Axle has a YouTube channel, Instagram page and Facebook site and has taken on the mannequin challenge, been photographed with models and is part of an animal agency in the hope of landing a screen role.

Ms Shipp said she took to social media and other promotions after joining a Melbourne staffy owners Facebook page and seeing the fun as well as reading about some of the prejudices staffies faced.

“They have a bad rap and it all comes down to the owner,” she said.

“They want to be around their owner and if you train them well and give them constructive things to do with their master, they love it.”

The dog is also an ambassador for the Kyneton-based Stafford Rescue Victoria, attending open days for the rehoming agency, where he poses for photos for children.
