Fawkner McDonald’s remains closed after two employees tested positive to the coronavirus.
The fast food outlet was closed at the weekend after a second diagnosis on Saturday, but will reopen its doors within 48 hours.
All staff have been asked to quarantine for 14 days as a precaution.
The Sydney Rd store will reopen pending on the availability of staff from other stores – who will work at the restaurant until Fawkner staff are deemed virus free.
The first staff member who tested positive did not attend work while infectious, while the second tested positive after working one shift on May 8, a McDonald’s spokesman said.
The store has since undergone an extensive deep cleaning over the weekend.
The spokesman said the decision to close and deep clean the restaurant was a “precautionary measure” and “over and above the Department’s requirements.”
“We have communicated with all employees and continue to work collaboratively with the Department of Health,” he said.
He said they had spoken to the second employee since the diagnosis.
“(We can) confirm they are self-isolating at home with little to no symptoms,” he said.

Victoria’s Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said the risk of anyone contracting the virus who visited the McDonald’s store was low.
“There is no evidence COVID-19 can be transmitted to people through food or packaging,” he said.
“However, anyone with even mild symptoms should get tested and self isolate until the results are known.”
No other employees have returned a positive diagnosis at this time.
