Young women and girls are benefiting from the inclusiveness of sport thanks to the Count Me In Too program in Moreland.
To support young women and girls from diverse backgrounds, the program helps engage participants in sporting clubs and organisations in Fawkner, Glenroy and Hadfield.
Last week more than 25 local women gathered at Fawkner Lawn Bowls Club to celebrate the success of the program which has been running for a year.
The aim of the program is to target gender inequity and family violence by creating a pathway for local leaders in the area.

Former Moreland mayor Natalie Abboud said the municipality was proud of its rich diversity, with council dedicated to creating equal, welcoming and safe environments in its community spaces.
“Participation in sporting clubs can be a powerful channel for breaking down social barriers and building strong communities, with huge mental and physical wellbeing benefits,” she said.
The joint project was the recipient of $70,000 funding under the Free From Violence Local Government Grants and delivered by council in conjunction with Merri Health.
