The Coburg Islamic Centre has thanked the warm embrace from Moreland following the Christchurch terror attacks and backed a mural of New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to be painted in Brunswick.
The mural will be painted on silos on Tinning St after a crowd funding campaign raised more than $11,000 in one day to cover painting costs.

A statement provided to the Moreland Leader from the Nicholson St centre — which backed the campaign — said the artwork of Ms Ardern hugging a woman after the attacks would provide a positive message.
“We are very thankful from the bottom of our hearts and grateful for the love, support and solidarity we have received from the community,” the statement said.
“The mural will speak for itself.”
The centre was inundated with visitors and flowers following the March attacks, with many people first time visitors to the mosque.
Breathe Architecture co-founder Tamara Veltre created the fundraiser and said the painting would represent a positive community response and hope for peace.
“Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve reached our funding goal in just one day,” she wrote on the funding page.
“Hope to see you at the silos when it’s finished.”
Artist Loretta Lizzio is expected to start work on the mural in early May.
