A child has been sent to hospital with serious injuries after a cooking explosion caused by methylated spirits in Hillside.

A child has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a cooking explosion in Hillside last night.
Emergency services were called to reports of a cooking fire and explosions at a house in Wattle Valley Drive about 8.20pm on Sunday night.
A CFA spokesman said the occupants “were cooking with methylated spirits in the kitchen which caused an explosion”.
Ambulance Victoria said four people were taken to hospital with upper body injuries.
“A primary school aged child was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition,” they said.
Three other people were taken to The Alfred in a stable condition.
Firefighters had the incident under control within 10 minutes.
In a separate incident, a community advice message for smoke was issued after a fire broke out at house in Timor Pde in Heidelberg West early this morning.
Firefighters were confronted with flames through the roof of the single-storey, brick-veneer home when they arrived just after 4am.
All occupants managed to escape unharmed and fire crews had the blaze under control in 24 minutes.
MFB Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
