A Tarneit brother and sister are accused of breaking into two temples and multiple homes in the western suburbs, stealing cash, jewellery and even a family photo album. But police say one of them must have “exceptional” reasons to be allowed out on bail.

Ms Kindred was bailed but Mr Evans was held in remand.

Yesterday he fronted Sunshine Magistrates Court, where he told the magistrate he should be bailed because had a place to stay, was meant to start work this week and would be happy to take a urine test.

His bail application had to be adjourned because he did not have a lawyer.

Court documents allege the pair burgled multiple homes and temples between February and June.

The documents state the pair broke into a Hoppers Crossing house on February 16 and stole $7000 in cash, laptops, tablets, gaming consoles and a large amount of jewellery. Police found Evans’ blood at the scene.
