MUCH-needed works on the run-down Broadmeadows train station are expected to be completed early next year.
Broadmeadows State MP Frank McGuire last week announced the $4 million facelift would include new and upgraded facilities.

He said the works would make it easier and safer for commuters and people crossing busy Pascoe Vale Rd.
“The project would improve access and amenity at the station with a new northern entrance, concourse and toilets, while upgrading the pedestrian subway,” Mr McGuire said.
“Safety improvements will also be made at the Pascoe Vale and Dimboola Rd intersection, which is a key access point to the station precinct, and at a new northern entry to the Broadmeadows railway station,” he said.
“Ensuring commuters and pedestrians can get access to public transport safely and easily is one of my key priorities.”
The station makeover funds were approved in last year’s State Budget.
Cr Naim Kurt, who criticised the state of the station in a Leader report last week, said the “community has been crying out for a redevelopment for a long time and this is a fantastic start”.
Hume mayor Drew Jessop said any improvement at the “significantly outdated, inaccessible and an eyesore” station was great news.
A VicTrack spokeswoman said the project was released to tender on May 10.
“A date for commencement of works will be released once a contractor has been awarded and design has been finalised,” she said.
The spokeswoman said once a contractor was chosen, a design would be developed and be open for public comment.
Works are expected to be completed early next year.
