At 40 years old, Abbey Gordon is showing no sign of slowing down and explains why she will run almost 300km in a week this year.

This year I will turn 40 and I decided it was the perfect time to take on a new running challenge.
In July, I’ll be taking on the Bravehearts 777; seven marathons in seven Australian states and territories over seven consecutive days.
I took up running as an adult and have never looked back.
I’m what you would call a “back of the pack runner” — I’ll never break any records or have a podium finish, but I really love being out there enjoying each event.
I have committed to raising a minimum of $10,000 for Bravehearts, which is Australia’s leading child protection organisation working to prevent child sexual assault.
When I signed up, it was the thought of fundraising that made me more nervous than actually running the seven marathons.
I’m eight weeks into my campaign and fundraising is still the hardest part.
I have no idea how I’ll manage to get through the seven marathons.
I’ll be doing plenty of back-to-back long runs in my training and I’ll start out slowly each day so I have plenty of energy available for later in the week.
