POLICE are investigating a suspicious house fire that engulfed a West Footscray flat earlier this morning.
Emergency services were contacted by a neighbour who became aware of the fire in the Broad Street flat at 5.30am.

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fire.
An arson chemist is expected to examine the site later this morning to determine the exact cause.
