A privately owned block of land with council permits for multistorey development has everything it needs — except a backer.
Real estate agents have been searching for a developer to take on the block at 7 Williamsons Rd ever since Manningham Council first approved permits for a 68-apartment tower in 2014.
The permits remain valid but the clock is ticking — the deadline for the start of construction is February 3 next year.

Other than a developer to take the project on, the block has it all.
It’s directly opposite Westfield Doncaster, it’s near the Eastern Freeway and it’s in a prime location for schools, public transport and parks.
According to a listing on commercial realestate.com.au, the 1064sq m site is expected to fetch about $7 million.
The building would have frontage on Williamsons Rd and a rear boundary, and access from, Carnarvon St.
Real estate companies Savills and Colliers International have joined forces to find a buyer for the land.
Savills agent Benson Zhou said the vendor was patient.
“We’re negotiating with a couple of groups at the moment, it just has to be at the right price and on the right terms,” he said.
