Business is booming for Ka Pies, with their pies selling at 30 locations across Victoria.
Mr Apswoude said people travelled from near and far to buy a Ka pie — even from Echuca.
“The best thing has been our customers, people who say things like, ‘I’m not a pie person but I love your pies’ or who ring up out of the blue to say, ‘Your pies taste awesome’,” he said.
Meanwhile Katie Bryant, owner of Soulsa Katering and Kafe, is delighting tastebuds with her gourmet pies down south on the Mornington Peninsula.

The chicken and brie is a favourite with both critics and consumers.
In 2010-11 it won a bronze at the Great Aussie Pie Competition.
“I have six bronzes across two years of competition,” Ms Bryant said.
