WESTFIELD has unveiled a new cinema and entertainment complex at Plenty Valley, with crowds flocking to check out the new precinct.

THOUSANDS of shoppers have turned out for the unveiling of Westfield Plenty Valley’s new $80 million dining and entertainment precinct, where doors opened at 11am today.

And management expects thousands more to check out the precinct before the day is out.

A new Village Cinema Complex and Australia’s first crowdfunded pub, the Sporting Globe, headlined the new retailers which are part of the precinct.

The precinct also includes San Churro, the Pancake Parlour and Grill’d Healthy Burgers.

A new concept YMCA equipped with occasional day care also opened its doors.

Centre manager Craig Tapping said it was important Westfield Plenty Valley continued to evolve as the needs of the community changed.

Lines stretched throughout the centre today.

“We asked local residents what they were keen to see and we responded by introducing fantastic new dining and entertainment options — including some new names to the area — that will impress visitors,” he said.

Comedian Peter Helliar will be on site as a special guest signing copies of his new book at Robinsons Bookshop.

Children are also invited to weave through an Easter Maze installation built to celebrate the release of the movie Peter Rabbit, which is due to open on March 29.

The Village Cinema will be open before Easter.
