HOON parents hell-bent on saving a few minutes during the morning and afternoon school runs at Korowa Anglican Girls’ School are putting students at risk, says a fed-up parent.
Probir Dutt of Glen Iris said he sees drivers pull illegal U-turns daily after dropping their children off at the prestigious Glen Iris school.

He said he’d seen several close shaves as he walked his children to the nearby St Roch’s Primary School.
“I have had numerous occasions now where my kids have come very close to being hit by cars performing U-turns across the pavement,” he said.
“There are ‘no U-turn’ signs up but these are ignored.

“Every day, you’ll see someone doing it. It’s only a matter of time before a kid gets hit.”
Mr Dutt said it was unfathomable why some parents would put other families at risk to save a few minutes on the daily school run.
He said he’d approached both the school and Victoria Police over the matter, but had received unsatisfactory responses.
Korowa administrators said they would station staff at the gates to monitor the situation, he said, but so far he’d seen no such action.
“We need to sort it out as soon as possible,” Mr Dutt said.
“The comical thing is you can see the U-turns done in front of the (no U-turn) signs.”
Korowa principal Helen Carmody said the school was concerned about children’s safety.
“We regularly monitor the traffic and carparking adjacent to the main entrances,” she said.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Melissa Seach said investigations had begun to try to identify the drivers performing illegal U-turns and officers would conduct patrols of the area.
