A 25-year-old might have to front court after failing a roadside drugs test in Lower Templestowe.

According to a post on the Eyewatch — Manningham Police Service Area Facebook page Nunawading highway patrol officers spotted the Mill Park man when he disobeyed a left-turn only sign while leaving the Manningham Club.

He drove straight across Thompsons Rd and onto the outbound on-ramp of the freeway about 7.25pm on March 1 where the cops pulled him over.

He was tested for alcohol and drugs, with the test coming back positive for methylamphetamine.

The sample will be tested in a lab and a positive result will send the man to court.

DONCASTER EAST

A Doncaster East man is warning people about a possible con artist operating in the area after he believes he was targeted by the same scammer twice in 12 months. Ralph Condick said he was first approached by a man who claimed to be a representative of an Italian company supplying products to Australian department stores. He offered Mr Condick what he said were Versace and Armani leather jackets valued at thousands of dollars at a heavily discounted price. Mr Condick declined to make a purchase. He said he believed it was the same man who tried to scam him on February 28. “I was buying petrol on the corner of Manningham and Bulleen roads about 9.30am when he approached me asking for directions,” Mr Condick said. He said he believed he recognised the man from the previous incident and tried to take his photo but he immediately left. Anyone who believes they’ve been the target of a scammer can report the incident to the Australian Government’s Scamwatch website to warn others.
