Hoons across Manningham are thumbing their noses at police by posting footage of burnouts and dangerous stunts on social media.

Fed-up homeowners are calling police round the clock appealing for help, but with no rego plate details police have little to go on.

One photo, which it’s understood was posted to a local social media page and later deleted, shows a Holden ute doing burnouts in Gold Memorial Drive Warrandyte.

The image was edited to hide the number plate before being uploaded, but Warrandyte Sergeant Stewart Henderson was able to repost it to the Eyewatch — Manningham Police Service Area Facebook page.

“We need public assistance on this. If someone has footage, even if it doesn’t depict registrations, we urge them to pass it on to police,” Sgt Henderson said.

“If anyone has a registration we’ll put it into our system and we might be able to impound the car and charge the person.”

Warrandyte’s Gold Memorial Drive has become a hotspot for hoons, while Stintons Rd in Park Orchards is also copping too many burnouts — or snakes as hoons call them.

Sgt Henderson said the hoons had chosen locations to do their smokeys that made it hard for them to be identified.

“They’re bold as brass because they know the driveways are so long that by the time anyone has got down to the road they’re already gone,” Sgt Henderson said.

“Another concern is that Gold Memorial Drive is so narrow that we can’t set up an operation there, and any innocent person coming in the other direction would get cleaned up.”

Anyone with information is urged to phone Warrandyte police on 9844 3231.
