Victorians can enter their pet in the Backyard Hero Calendar Competition to be in the running for one of the available months.
“The immeasurable love and companionship received from our backyard heroes should be celebrated,” Lort Smith spokesman David Drysdale said.
“What better way than by helping support animals in need?”
Pets don’t need to be a Lort Smith adoptee or patient to be eligible, and can be any kind of animal.
“Lort Smith’s calendar features all types of animals including dogs, cats, frogs, a chicken, guinea pig, rabbit and even a bearded dragon,” said Mr Drysdale.
The two lucky winners of the People’s Choice and Panel’s Choice categories will win a pet photo shoot and appear in the 2020 Lort Smith fundraising calendar, among other prizes.
Proceeds from the calendar go towards the hospital’s work saving animals’ lives.
Calendar entries are open until 5pm March 29 and voting is open Australia-wide until April 30.
