Reservoir

A 27-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested in Reservoir after an alleged firearms incident in Williamstown.

Police received reports of a gunshot near Ferguson St about 1.30am on January 25. No one was injured.

A man was arrested on February 3 on High St.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries and remained under police guard.

Preston

A lightning strike on a gas meter is believed to have started a house fire in Preston on Wednesday.

After a downpour that night, MFB crews were called to the Penola St house about 7.40pm and found it fully alight.

A community warning was issued due to the smoke.

Thirty firefighters battled the blaze and had it under control in 45 minutes.

Reservoir

Commuters pushed through peak-hour havoc on February 4 after a car was hit by a train.

The car ended up caught between the train and boom gates at the Reservoir railway station level crossing about 4pm.

Train services were suspended between Bell and Epping stations after the incident and replacement buses ordered. Paramedics were at the scene treating a woman in her 40s believed to be the driver, but there were no reported injuries.

Northcote

A woman believed to have been involved in armed robberies of three service stations in Northcote has been arrested. Police arrested a 53-year-old woman on Balgonie St, Northcote on Friday at 3.30pm. Police allege the three different stores in Northcote were robbed between June last year and January this year. The woman is assisting police with inquiries.

Reservoir

A 28-year-old man was arrested and more than $300,000 cash found on a Reservoir property after a raid by task force Icarus.

The investigators from Victoria Police, AFP and customs visited the Gilbert Rd residence about 8.30am on February 6 and in their search of the property found three firearms, ammunition, cash, drugs including cocaine and MDMA, and a 2018 Toyota Hilux ute.

The Reservoir man was charged with trafficking a commercial quantity of cocaine, trafficking MDMA, possessing handguns, possessing a firearm, dealing with proceeds of crime and handling stolen goods. He was remanded and appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates Court on February 6.

Preston

Plenty Rd near Josephine Grove will be reduced to a 40km/h speed limit due to daily roadworks.

The speed limit will be in place between 9.30am and 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.
