Store manager Joseph Zanca said the company was aware the community wanted to support local businesses and that would be reflected in the products offered. “We are proud to work with some of the best Aussie suppliers including Costa Mushrooms, which is based right here in Mernda,” Mr Zanca said.
The mushrooms are delivered to stores within 24 hours of harvest.
Speciality stores including Scotch and Fillet butcher, Mernda Kebab House and Seven Star Pizza Pasta Grill will open across the next eight weeks.
An official opening of the centre will be held on Saturday, March 30.
Mernda Junction will also include 300 car spaces, parents’ rooms and a children’s play area.
Mr Wilson said the cost of the development was confidential.
