Alleged drug dealer Jay McLeod caught with nearly $30k cash and 30g of ice in Bentleigh East raid

A police raid on a Bentleigh East house allegedly netted a cocktail of drugs — including nearly 30g of ice — and tens of thousands of dollars in cash hidden behind a TV cabinet in a bedroom.
The search led to Jay Cameron McLeod being charged with trafficking ice, possessing GHB, cannabis and alprazolam, and dealing with the proceeds of crime.

The 28-year-old is also charged with dishonestly receiving stolen goods and refusing to give police passwords to his phones when directed to do so.
He appeared at Moorabbin Magistrates’ Court yesterday, with no plea entered.
The court heard at around 7.40am on September 19 this year drug investigators went to Mr McLeod’s Bentleigh East home.
There they allegedly found drugs and money in various rooms around the property.
They say the came across two bags of ice, one with 28.3g in it and a second containing 5.7g, a small container of GHB and 2.9g of cannabis.
They also found a prescription medication called alprazolam, which is sold as Xanax, in someone else’s name.
They also allegedly found $26,950 in cash hidden behind a TV cabinet in his bedroom, and a further $525 in two different places.
Three mobile phones and a stolen motorbike, which had been stolen in a Hampton burglary in July 2017, were also allegedly found at the property.

Mr McLeod allegedly refused to give police his passwords or pin codes to his phones, which officers believe was because they contained evidence of drug trafficking.
In court Mr McLeod’s lawyer said there were still “issues” with the prosecution and some of the matters were still being contested.
He was remanded in custody until his next court date on February 8. He did not apply for bail.
