Ranked: 15,000 Country Victorian cricketers for season 2021-22

Country cricket is set to make its return after the Christmas break as players battle it out for bragging rights to be considered the best in the state. See where you rank.

After a two-week layoff, country cricket is set to make a big return to the field this weekend.

More than 15,000 players have taken to the field this season, whether it has been with the bat or ball.

Leader has crunched the numbers to see who is leading the way across regional Victoria.

The Ballarat Cricket Association is home to the state’s two highest runscorers with the pair separated by just a couple of runs.

On top with the bat is Ballarat-Redan star Zac Jenkins who has smashed 443 runs from seven innings so far this season at an average of 88.6.

He is narrowly followed by Wendouree’s Sam Miller, the defending competition medallist, who has scored 441 runs at 88.2.

Andrew McFarlene of Branxholme is the third top batsman, with 421 runs in the Hamilton District Cricket Association.

Another Ballarat competition club has early bragging rights in the bowling stakes thanks to the form of Steve Taylor from Burrumbeet.

Taylor has taken 23 wickets for the season to sit three clear of Drysdale’s Bailey Sykes, who sits in second place with 20 scalps.

Both players have five-wicket hauls as their best performances of the season.

The best figures in a single game belong to Darley’s Madushanka Ekanayaka who took 9/15 in the opening round.
