A Mildura woman who had a “significant” amount of meth and cannabis has faced court.
Elissa Griffiths, 34, appeared in the Mildura Magistrates Court on Wednesday facing two charges of possessing drugs.
She was fined a total of $2000 and a conviction was recorded.
The court heard that Griffiths, originally from Werribee, was in possession of the drugs in her home late last year.
In November of 2021 police attended Griffiths’ address with a search warrant.
They uncovered approximately 25 grams of meth, with an estimated street value of $25,000 and 205 grams of cannabis, with an estimated street value of $5,000.
Griffiths’ partner and co-accused Rick Chambers was arrested immediately and it was agreed that Griffiths would attend the police station later as there was a child in her care at the time. Griffiths did not attend the police station and was later arrested and bailed to appear before the Mildura Magistrates Court.
The court heard that “more serious” charges against Griffiths had been withdrawn but that the amount of drugs found was still “significant”.
Griffiths’ co-accused faced more charges in relation to the matter and was sentenced to 4 months in prison last year.
Griffiths was fined $1500 for the possession of meth and $500 for the possession of cannabis. A conviction was also recorded.
