Mildura sex fiend Brenton Healey pleads guilty to sexual penetration of a child, supplying drugs

A Mildura man who was attacked after he plied two teens with drugs and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl has been handed his next punishment.

A Mildura sex fiend surrendered to police after two teenage girls, who he’d been supplying with drugs in return for sex acts, turned on him and bashed him with weapons.

Brenton George Healey, 34, was sentenced to a minimum of six years and three months’ jail before the County Court on Friday, having pleaded guilty to charges including sexual penetration of a child under 16 and supplying drugs of dependence to a child.

Healey plied a 15-year-old girl and a 17-year-old girl with meth, cocaine, MDMA and cannabis then pushed them to perform sex acts with him for months last year.

The court heard he began contact with the 17-year-old when he messaged her on Snapchat last year.

Healey lied and told the girl he was 28 as they messaged and became friends, before the pair began meeting in person.

The court heard the girl regularly went to Healey’s home where they watched movies and smoked cannabis before engaging in sex acts.

The girl then introduced Healey to her 15-year-old friend, and on one night he picked up both girls from their homes and parked by the river.

He taught the girls how to smoke meth and gave them alcohol, before taking them to his house to smoke cannabis.

A night shortly after he took them both back to his house and smoked cannabis with them before he twice tried to put his hand in the 15-year-old’s pants and she pushed him away and asked to go home.

Police pulled over Healey’s car as he was driving the girls home about 2.40am and he instructed them to tell them one was his cousin.

The court heard he went on to send the 15-year-old explicit photos, and asked her to send him explicit photos and videos in return, which she did.

He continued to spend nights with the girls, and one night, after they had all smoked meth, sexually touched both girls, also penetrating the 15-year-old.

Healey taught the girls how to smoke cocaine and “would always want something in return for the drugs”, the court heard.

He once told the 17-year-old he wouldn’t drive her home unless she performed a sex act on him.

Healey took the 15-year-old with him to buy prescription medication from his drug dealer one night, then drove her around as she vomited and reacted to the medication.

The court heard she wet herself and was unable to push Healey off while under the influence of the drug.

She then resisted his demands for sex as he sexually assaulted her in his back seat.

The girl later told the 17-year-old what had happened and on July 27 the pair stormed Healey’s home and beat him with his own baseball and cricket bats, demanding he turn himself into police.

He then called his mum, who called police.

Police found child abuse material at Healey’s home on August 11 when he was arrested.

The court heard Healey had only been out of jail for less than two months before he began contact with the girls, and had breached a community corrections order with the offending.

He had previously been convicted of charges including blackmail, during which he threatened to distribute naked images of girls if they didn’t comply with his demands, which included giving him their underwear, and trafficking cannabis.

Healey’s lawyer said his client had pleaded guilty at an early opportunity.

Judge Smallwood said the incident in the car, with the girl being a 15-year-old virgin who lacked control due to the drug, was “almost incomprehensible”.

“What happened in that car must have just been humiliating … bewildering,” the Judge said.

Judge Smallwood said the community needed to be protected from such predatory behaviour.

“What you did with each of those children is disgraceful. There’s no other way to describe it,” Judge Smallwood said.

“You exploited them for your own sexual pleasure.”

Healey was sentenced to a maximum of nine years’ and six months’ jail, having already served 297 days.
