A Mildura woman answered the door naked when a support worker tried to dial her into her court hearing after she broke into a home while drunk, a court has heard.
Sandra McCarthy was fined $500 in Mildura’s Magistrates Court last week after she broke into an acquaintance’s home and later threatened another man.
McCarthy was due to appear in court on Tuesday but when her support worker arrived at her house to dial her in she was naked, aggressive and abusive.
She did not appear in court, but her lawyer represented her.
The court heard in September last year McCarthy attended the address of a known acquaintance who was in hospital receiving medical care.
McCarthy used an object to smash the lower pane of glass in a bedroom window before she climbed through the window.
A witness called the police who found McCarthy inside the property under the influence of alcohol.
When asked what she was doing at the property she said she was trying to save a dog.
“I (couldn’t) get the dog out. It‘s just because of the dog. I did cause criminal damage because it’s (was) the only way to save the dog,“ she said in a police interview.
A few days later McCarthy attended a different address and picked up a large wooden handle hoe. She banged on the victims window and door, threatening him.
She was eventually arrested and taken to the police station.
A conviction was not recorded.
