Lincoln Floyd, 44, appeared in Mildura Magistrates’ Court seeking bail on charges including aggravated burglary, armed robbery, and common law assault.

The court was told the alleged victim had been nearly asleep on a couch at his home when Mr Floyd reportedly burst through the front door wielding a baseball bat.

“I am going to hit you with this. Where’s your wallet?” Mr Floyd allegedly said before using the bat and his fists to assault the man, police told the court.

Police alleged Mr Floyd stole a wallet and phone during the incident, lighting a cigarette and taking a laptop before being scared off by a witness.

It was also claimed Mr Floyd threatened his alleged victim, saying, “if you go to the police, me and my brothers will come back and get you”,

The alleged victim and a witness reported the incident to police, who documented the scene on Christmas Eve.

Mr Floyd was arrested on New Year’s Day and gave a no comment interview to police.

During the bail hearing, Mr Floyd appeared via video link and was seen yawning several times.

The court heard Mr Floyd was also accused of stealing more than $2500 worth of items from two properties in Merbein and Mildura.

In a separate incident, Mr Floyd allegedly punched a woman in the face during a dispute over cigarettes, causing her to lose consciousness. Police claimed he poured a can of soft drink over her to revive her.

Mr Floyd was denied bail and will next appear on the aggravated burglary, armed robbery and common law assault charges for a committal mention on March 26.

Mr Floyd’s lawyer Tristan Brumby-Rendell argued for bail, citing Mr Floyd’s role as the sole carer for his elderly uncle, who suffers from dementia, and tribal issues underlying the alleged robbery.

Mr Brumby-Rendell proposed bail conditions including a curfew, static address, and regular reporting to address concerns.

Police prosecutor Leading Senior Constable Kristen Simm opposed bail, highlighting the alleged victim’s fear for his life and his discomfort living alone at his home.

Magistrate Russell Kelly denied bail, citing risk as the deciding factor, noting the threat made against the alleged victim and the fact Mr Floyd and his alleged victim were known to each other.

Mr Floyd is due to reappear in Mildura Magistrates’ Court on March 26 for a committal mention regarding the robbery and assault charges. He will appear on January 30 for a mention on the other charges.
