Family and friends of a “larger than life” Red Cliffs father have paid tribute to the “big-hearted larrikin” after he was killed in a tragic motorcycle crash.
Jordan Riley Roddy, 30, died at the intersection of Cassia St and Nerrum Ave on October 21, after crashing his motorcycle into a power pole guy-wire.
Those closest to “little red”, as he was affectionately known, say they are heartbroken by the loss of the “one of a kind” father, which has devastated the community.
Jane Roddy, his mother, said her youngest son had quickly outgrown his siblings in size and personality.
“People were amazed at your size and your larger than life personality,” she said.
“He loved his footy, his basketball and his motorbikes. Your heart was as big as you were … and all that knew you loved you.”
Childhood friend Rachel described Jordan as a “loud goofy loveable larrikin” who would do almost anything for those closest to him.
“Our 30 year friendship consisted of banter, hard truths, support and so much love,” she said.
“From, the little redhead freckle-face kid in prep, to the annoying s--- stirring jokester in his teenage years to now … brightening everyone’s day is exactly what you did.”
Others took to social media to pay their respects saying Mildura would be a “different place” without him, remembering his “cracking smile”.
“Rest in peace, Jordy, you will be sadly missed by everyone and your memories will live on in all of us, gone way too young,” one person wrote.
Another posted: “30 years and an entire lifetime of memories. Some say we were the best of friends but I say you and your brothers were the brothers I never had”.
“Thanks for tormenting me with creepy-crawlies, stealing my childhood diary and being the loudest of the lot.”
A GoFundMe page set up to help his family has raised more than $10,000 from 117 donors in the three weeks since the accident.
Jordan is survived by his 11-year-old daughter Amyleigh, his brothers, Jaye and Lincoln, and mum, Jane Roddy.
Police say an investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
