The father accused of killing his baby son in Mildura last year has pleaded not guilty to murder.
Evander Wilson, 21, appeared at Mildura Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday accused of killing his six-month-old son Jakobi Wilson.
The court heard Wilson had made an offer to plead guilty to a different charge.
Crown Prosecutor Neill Hutton told the court child homicide or manslaughter were possible alternatives but no decision had been made.
The matter had been set for a three-day committal hearing but a start to proceedings was delayed due to discussions taking place throughout the morning.
Magistrate Michael Coghlan said the matter would be handed to the Supreme Court due to the plea offer.
It was listed for a directions hearing at the Supreme Court in Melbourne on July 28.
No application was made for bail.
Jakobi Wilson died on April 11 last year in Mildura.
The court was previously told there were no witnesses to the incident that resulted in the death of the child.
