Mildura to be on show at weekend’s Bathurst 1000

Millions of rev heads will spot advertising for Mildura this weekend, in a move hoped to bring more tourism to the region.

Mildura will be on display when a local driver competes in a famous race this weekend.

Mildura local Cameron Waters will drive Tickford Racing’s Monster Energy Ford Mustang at the big race this weekend.

The car will have a colourful nod to Waters’ hometown, with branding at the front pointing to Mildura.

Waters said it was great to have the continued support of the region.

“It’s great to have the continued support of Mildura … at Bathurst. Mildura is such a fantastic holiday destination, and hopefully the months ahead will see an increase in travel.

“I’m sure Mildura will be on a lot of people’s radar,” he said.

Mildura Regional Development CEO, Brett Millington said the advertising would generate “broad benefits” from all visitor segments.

“By our brand staying consistently in market throughout the calendar year, not to mention the support of Cam’s local background, the Mildura region will be reinforced as a distinctive and refreshing tourism destination,” he said.

Mr Millington ensured it wasn’t possible without the support of local businesses.

“This campaign could not be undertaken without the support of these businesses and it’s great to see them acknowledge the value and importance of keeping Mildura top of mind to viewers,” he said.

The race, is expected to be watched by more than four million people.

It will take place for three days from October 9 and will be available to watch on free to air TV.
