Around 1400 Mildura households will need to start taking their bins out on a different day from next week due to the town’s growing population.
From November 28 residents who live between Twelfth and Fourteenth street, as well as houses bound by Deakin Ave and San Mateo, will have their bins collected on Mondays.
Organic waste will still be collected every week, and red and yellow bins every fortnight.
Councillor for Environment and Sustainability Jason Modica said the change was necessary to accommodate Mildura’s growing population.
“We’re adjusting the bin collection schedule to accommodate our growing population and want to make sure all affected residents are aware and prepared for these changes,” he said.
Mildura residents are still due to get the fourth, purple bin, for glass waste some time in 2024.
While the rural city council is still reviewing proposals for the bin, the new change should not affect the rollout.
