A major interstate highway on the Victorian border has been closed after a B-double truck’s load went up in flames.
Firefighters from both NSW and Victoria arrived on scene at the Sturt Highway in Gol Gol at 9.30am Wednesday, to find the truck’s trailers on fire.
According to NSW Police, the truck driver was able to disconnect the truck from the two trailers after the blaze started.
Traffic remains held up on the busy highway.
Mildura state Nationals MP Jade Benham was travelling along the highway when the fire started, and began live-streaming the incident.
Ms Benham urged people to be patient as emergency services deal with the situation
“I’m certainly not going to try and go around, so if you’re in a hurry either going into or leaving Mildura through Gol Gol, patience is a virtue,” she said.
“It is the main freight route please take it easy as you come through here.”
