A serial barbecue chicken thief who stole 26 of the $9.99 treats from her local supermarket, often on consecutive days, has been sentenced in court.
Eva Bolvary, 59, pleaded guilty to a string of charges at Mildura Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after she stole from the Fishers IGA at Irymple.
The court heard the Irymple woman stole the chickens over six weeks between January and February last year.
Her longest streak of consecutive chicken thefts ran for 11 days.
While the chickens made up most of the charges, other items taken included a reusable cool bag, a whole porterhouse steak, beef jerky and skim milk.
Her shopping spree came to an end when she was charged with stealing “various grocery items” on February 28.
Bolvary was sentenced to a six month good behaviour bond.
She must also pay $500 to the court fund, to be distributed to local charities, and repay $537.59 in compensation to the supermarket.
