A Sunraysia winery is making a splash in the no-alcohol wine space, winning a gold medal at the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) in London.

Edenvale, a family-owned winery located just off the Silver City Highway in Buronga, has claimed the 2024 Low & No Producer Trophy, putting a spotlight on the company’s innovative approach using world-first, cutting-edge technology.

“As a small, family owned company, Edenvale’s achievements are particularly remarkable given the competitive landscape of the beverage industry,” the IWSC judges noted.

A pioneer in no-alcohol wine, Edenvale produces its award-winning beverages through its subsidiary, Low and No Beverages. This start-up operates a state-of-the-art de-alcoholisation plant with groundbreaking technology, general manager of Low and No Beverages Aaron Milne said.

Although Edenvale Wines has a strong reputation in the no-alcohol wine market, Low and No Beverages is a new venture, commissioned just six months ago with only two employees — Mr Milne and John Horkings.

“It was basically just me in the beginning. Now that we’ve bedded down our processes and are getting more work, we’ve put another person on. Hopefully, we’ll continue to grow,” Mr Milne said.

For Mildura-born Mr Milne, this success feels particularly meaningful.

“It’s great to do this in a country area in the middle of the desert. I’m a country boy, and building this from scratch has been so rewarding,” he said.

With production of 10,000 cases of wine weekly, distributing its no-alcohol wines both locally and internationally, it keeps Mr Milne busy.

“You wear a lot of hats in a small company, but I love it,” Mr Milne said.
