A meth head mum-of-five tried to pull a fast one on police who raided her house, telling them her stash of the deadly drug was just bath salts.
Danielle Harker pleaded guilty to possession of 3.27g of methylamine and was convicted and fined $1200.
Her house was raided earlier this year where officers found a number of zip-lock bags stuffed under a mattress.
When questioned, Harker told the officers the bags were full of bath salts, but tests revealed the substance to be meth.
When Harker was taken to the police station for an interview police prosecutor Kirsten Simm told the court that her partner had been planning to scam someone with the drugs.
“The accused stated that her partner intended to rip someone off by telling them it was meth and selling it to them,” she said.
Harker’s defence lawyer Hugh Middleton said hat her work as a hotel cleaner kept her busy and off drugs.
“She works Monday to Saturday as a hotel cleaner, this keeps her busy through the week and off drugs,” he said.
In his sentencing, Magistrate Michael Coghlan suggested it might be time to make a change given her drug-related offending dated back to 2015.
“It must be time to make some changes in reaction to these charges,” he said.
